Radiant heating is determined by the transfer of existing heat. This method is achieved through heating existing exteriors such as ceilings, walls or even floors to maintain heat in a room or small space. The system of radiant heaters is completely dependent on the transferring of heat from the hot surface to the room (through infrared radiation).

There is a variety of advantages when it comes to this type of heat. First, no energy is lost through ducts and/or ventilation methods. This allows for lower energy costs. The other type of heating is convection. Convection heaters use existing heat and distributes it evenly. This process is specifically created based on specifics of a room or place where the heater is installed. This type of heater is created in order to maximize effectiveness and avoid loss of heat.

Convection ultimately is the heat transfer of air or water through the use of moving that heated substance. This move is generated through the use of energy. Since hot water and/or air are denser, it rises and allows itself to be transported. This process is important when transporting energy from the Sun to the surface of the Earth.
